Over the summer, several changes were made to adjust staffing based on enrollment patterns at the various grade levels. Jessica Jackson will be the sixth member of the second grade team and former Assistant Principal and fifth grade teacher Chris Delehanty, will be leaving Sage Canyon to serve the students and staff of Ocean Air and Torrey Hills Schools in the role of Assistant Principal.
In addition, we are welcoming three new additions to our staff. Please extend a warm welcome to the new members of the Sage Canyon family!
Sarah Ricciardi
Sarah will be joining the Sage Canyon staff as a third grade teacher. Mrs. Ricciardi received her BA from SDSU and her Masters in Education from Pepperdine University. Sarah has four years of elementary teaching experience and most recently was a language arts teacher at KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy. Sarah is a perfect fit for Sage Canyon and the entire staff is thrilled to have her with us.
Cindy Nicoll
Cindy is joining the Sage Canyon staff as the fifth member of the 6th grade team. Prior to coming to Sage Canyon, Cindy spent the past 14 years as an educator in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District teaching fifth and sixth grades as well as Kindergarten and first grade. Cindy is known for her nuturing and challenging classroom environment and her willingness to do whatever it takes. Mrs. Nicoll has served as a Master Teacher for Cal State University Fullerton and views herself as a lifelong learner ready for a new endeavor. Cindy, the mom, is thrilled to be close to her daughter, a student at Cal State San Marcos.
Rebecca Embrey
Rebecca will be a part-time physical education teacher, joining fulltime PE teacher, Trent Tracy, in creating a world class physical education program for our students. Rebecca received her BA in Kinesiology and Physical Education from Cal State University Chico where she was an accomplished athlete on the CSU Chico Track and Field Team. Prior to coming to Sage, Rebecca taught physical education in the San Marcos and Valley Center Pauma Unified School Districts. Rebecca coaches high school track and field and JV soccer and recently took sixth place in her age group in the Wine Country Half marathon.
